Dragon Quest IV is a role-playing video game developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix (now Square Enix) for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was released in Japan in 1990 and in North America in 1992. The game features a chapter-based storyline where players control multiple characters with unique backgrounds and abilities, as they explore a fantasy world filled with monsters and treasure. It also introduced the "Tactics" battle system, where players can set AI behaviors for their party members during battles. Dragon Quest IV is widely considered one of the best RPGs on the NES and has had several remakes and ports to other platforms over the years.
