Dragon Quest III is a role-playing video game developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix (now Square Enix) for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1988. It is the third installment in the Dragon Quest series and follows a hero on a quest to defeat the evil Baramos and save the world of Alefgard. The game features turn-based battles, a diverse cast of characters that can be recruited to the player's party, and an open-world exploration system that allows players to travel freely throughout the game's world. Dragon Quest III is considered one of the best RPGs on the NES and has spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs.
