Faxanadu is an action role-playing game developed by Hudson Soft and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1987. The game follows a nameless hero who returns to his hometown after a long absence to find it in ruins and under attack by monsters. The hero must explore various towns and dungeons, defeat bosses, collect items, and upgrade his equipment to ultimately confront the evil that threatens the land. Faxanadu features side-scrolling platformer-style gameplay with RPG elements such as experience points and gold.
