Darkman is a side-scrolling action game developed by Ocean Software and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1991. The game is based on the 1990 film of the same name, which tells the story of a scientist named Peyton Westlake who is gruesomely disfigured and becomes the vigilante Darkman. In the game, players control Darkman as he fights his way through levels filled with enemies and obstacles. Darkman has the ability to change his appearance to that of his enemies, allowing him to sneak past guards and infiltrate their hideouts. He can also swing from ropes, climb walls, and use a grappling hook to navigate the levels. Throughout the game, players collect "time limit" items that extend the amount of time they have to complete each level. The game features six stages, each with its own boss at the end. Players must defeat all six bosses to reach the final showdown with crime boss Robert Durant.
